TRENT'S GEAR

Trent has one of the most unique collections of trumpets. Check out some of the instruments and their stories.

Olds Clark Terry Model Flugelhorn

My CT flugelhorn, made by F.E. Olds, is probably the one instrument I’d never sell. This horn was actually one of Clark’s horns he sold to a friend and then I purchased from him many years ago. I have done numerous recordings on it with Clark and to this day is the favorite in my collection.

1940 French Besson Brevete

(restored by J. Landress Brass in NYC) This one isn’t the easiest playing horn due to the leaky valves but has probably the best sounding trumpet in my collection. When you think of a “classic sound from the golden years of the big-band era or recorded music this horn embodies that concept: Big, rich, warm, and spins at the turn of a dime.

ACB by Adams Coppernicus

My “baby” I am proud that we have two horns now that are exclusively made for my shop by our dear friends at Adams Brass. I have been an artist for them for over a decade now and this horn is a chameleon. It has so many tonal colors and sonic possibilities.  Plus it’s COOL!

ACB by Adams Americana

A polar opposite of the Coppernicus this horn is probably the horn that gets the most playing time at the house.  The newest design (launched in December of 2023) this one has an ergonomic valve design, classic bell shape, and harkens such horns like the Besson, Olds, and Calicchio horns players used in the studios!

Bohme Praedo Cornet

One of the most gorgeous horns I have ever seen and definitely owned is this work of art by German artist Martin Bohme.  This horn features the MAW valve block and has a full copper bell.

Adams Setup Horn

What is better than one bell? How about 10 different Bells! The main body of the horn is based on a ML Adams A4LT design.  We use this one at the shop for folks to come and design their own “dream Adams horn”. I love the Sterling silver bell (pictured here) and AGR to really dial in your playability settings.

AR Resonance Feroce

My friend Antonio makes some of the finest trumpets in the world and I am proud to have this in my collection. This newer model has a bronze bell, nickel mouthpipe, and some of the best modern lines you could ask for…

Adams F3 Flugelhorn

While I love my CT horn and would never sell it I use this F3 a lot more often. The F3 is one of the finest instruments in my collection and I play it daily.  I helped with the design on this horn (like I have with many instruments in the Adams Brass line).

1935 York “Trumpet Style” Cornet

I have a few vintage horns still in the collection and this one is one of the coolest.  Recently rebuilt valves by Dan Oberloh this horn plays so well, is quite rare, and is funky!!!

1940 York “airflow” Cornet

Probably THE coolest horn in the collection and the most original design this York Airflow cornet is the pinnacle of Art Deco and plays incredibly well too!

DEG Signature 2000 Piccolo Trumpet

Also super rare this one is so perfect for improvising and what I do on the piccolo… a fabulous design and incredible playing instrument.
